A Walk Down Memory Lane…

I recently attended my high school class reunion, where we peeled back the pages of time and became 17 again for a few exciting moments. We recalled flashes of youth at football games and pep squad chants and dances, crushes we thought we’d never live through, and poignant expectations for our lives. The ‘60s were a simpler, safer time with no locked doors at school and no police on campus, where fights were a rarity and no bad language existed. Our treasured experiences from our innocent youth, and now our long-time friendships, brought us back to our current year of 2026. Sadly, some classmates are facing life without loved ones, including some of our closest school friends, and other personal tragedies, but we still experienced gratitude for the goals we reached—some even bigger and better than expected—for the lasting relationships we’re enjoying, and for the classmate’s husband who provided his home for our stunning reunion venue. We focused on the good and found lots to laugh about. We have reached an advanced age to brag about—where 9:00 PM is the new midnight and sensible shoes more important than anyone’s income, where kindness trumps former careers. Our hardships built character and strength to continue.

We’re enjoying being the same age as such notables as Danny Glover, Tommy Lee Jones, Candace Bergen, Cher, Liza Minnelli, Barry Gibb—Presidents Donald Trump, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton—along with David Bowie, Elton John, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ted Danson, and Nolan Ryan—just to name a few. We’re Baby Boomers—the first generation born after World War II who have been watched, cuddled, photographed, and exclaimed over since the day we were born. Our journey has been great, and we expect more great years to come. Happy 61st Class Reunion to the Highlands High School Class of 1965, a fabulous, faithful, fearless, formidable, fun, first-rate—and sometimes a little flamboyant—group of friends!

You’re the BEST! Thanks for the memories!
