Housework, Anyone?
I love God most of all, and after Him, I love family, friends, and humor!
Today I feel like a chuckle or two. One of my all-time favorite stories comes from the Ann Landers advice column way back on September 1, 1964.
Here goes from memory—Ann had been receiving letters from women telling about how to do housework more efficiently. One idea led to another when they hit on doing their housework in the nude, offering such reasons for their nakedness as not only feeling freer but also not getting buttons or pockets caught on doorknobs, drawer pulls, lacey trims, and so on. On one such workday a lady calling herself “Lady Godiva” had cleaned her entire home and was in the basement putting her last load of laundry in the washing machine when she noticed her house dress was soiled. She decided to remove her dress, and everything else, and toss the whole kit and caboodle into the washer. With her housework finished too, everything in the whole house would be clean at the same time. A rare occurrence. Suddenly she noticed a pipe overhead dripping on her head. In prep for going out to dinner with her husband, her hair was in curlers. She quickly scanned the basement for something to protect her hair when she spotted her son’s football helmet. A perfect solution. Placing the newfound headgear firmly over her curlers, she leaned on the washer, au naturale, smugly pleased with herself and all her accomplishments of the day. Suddenly, she looked up through one of the basement windows. To her shock, the meter man stood peering down at her. She froze—football helmet and in the buff.
He tipped his hat and said, “Hope your team wins lady!”
I cannot equal this feat for triumph or humor, but I’d love for all of you out there to try! C’mon and send me your most humorous—or most embarrassing—experience. No last names please! Can’t wait! And, by the way, I find true life occurrences hands down funnier than any man-made tale.
